In this collection project, I decided to choose vintage Playboy magazines as my subject due to unique and iconic imagery. I also felt inspired by the style of old these magazines, particularly in the 80s, due to their playful typography and bold use of colour. From this collection of magazines I created a publication which explored the line between art and porn, discussed in an essay which is also published in the book. Here, I touch on the idea of 'drawn porn' and how changing the medium may affect the explicitness of the images or enable it to be recognised as a piece of art. To create content for this publication I took a multifaceted approach in process through cyanoprinting, solvent transfer, drawing, collage and risograph printing to produce a more eclectic book in medium. It was printed on 200gsm textured paper and bound with black thread using a simplistic running stitch in an attempt to mirror a sort of batch manufacturing.
